I'm ba-ack! The wedding went off beautifully and I'm now happy,relaxed and tan and bursting with ideas! Had an awesome time, with very little fashion pics- mostly relaxing with friends and family. Hope you guys have been enjoying your summer!

Do I need more stuff?

Ugh! I hate packing! I always feel like I'm leaving something, so I cram more stuff in and then worry about weight allowances and then take stuff out again- it's a nightmare! I wish I was one of those women who could master the 'capsule' wardrobe and only bring a few pieces which mysteriously work together. Sadly, I like to have options and dress according to my mood rather than by any preordained rules. Anyways, I've taken pics for posterity and to show you guys which pieces made the cut- some you'll recognise and others you'll see in future posts! Anyways, until next time!

Yesterday I came through to London to see one of my best friends from Uni. As with all great friends, the chemistry was still there and it felt like no time had passed (although it's been 5 years). We did a few touristy things, but mainly just hung out and had an amazing day.I meant to wear a hat, but it was too frickin windy, so I had no desire to spend my day chasing my hat into traffic! The outfit above also took me from sight-seeing, to dinner to the bar, so top marks for versatlity! I'm away on holiday tomorrow and will try my best to blog whilst there! Hopefully, it will be successful, but otherwise see you in 2 weeks!

Faded

I chose a really simple outfit today, for just lounging around. The whole thing is so worn in and super comfy and most of the pieces I've had for years. I love anything drapey which can hide a multitude of sins.All the pics I took kept coming out faded, as if they've been lightly bleached. At first I tried to change it by fiddling with the exposure, but then I realised I kinda liked it. :)

I'm only happy when it rains

I had to search high and low for a jumper today- it's freezing! and raining! I had high hopes of having a proper summer, but after living here for 10 years, I really should know better! I chose this jumper coz it has this almost 3D effect when you look at it and it was the first one I could unearth. How're you guys coping with the sudden weather change?

Era

In the summer,I always try to reference the 70's and dream of it as an era of bohemian glamour- deep tans, long hair and floaty garments.I was drawn to this hat by it's floppy brim and distinctly rock and roll appeal. I wanted to shoot outside, but after a week of sun, the rain cam :(. What era do you guys reference?

Work in Progress

Hiya Guys! First I wanted to thank you guys for all your lovely comments; I truly appreciate the support :). I mentioned before that I was making a Pocohontas costume, due to the fact that 1)I really didn't like the ready-made ones and 2) I could be a bit more creative. However, I'm not a seamstress so have had to resort to sewing fringe onto a dress! Just showing a few pics of how it's coming along and the finished product this weekend :). I'm also heading off on holiday at the end of the week, so the packing frenzy will have to start! Do you guys make your own clothes? If so, any tips?

YSL Tribute

I ran out and bought my beloved Elle magazine and was flipping through the first few pages when it dawned on me- they're showcasing Fall fashion....Fall! Argh! I cannot compute fall fashion right now, not when it's roasting outside and summer has just kicked off. Anyways, I saw this YSL feature and loved the simplicity of the design and shoot, so I attempted a re-creation at home for fun! I only took a few photos coz lack of air conditioning made the start dripping sweat (jacket + summer= no-no) and made me reflect on the previous campaigns. Do you guys remember when Kate Moss modeled for them? I've included a photo and still have it in my inspiration folder!

Fashion Rules

I was chatting to a friend today and discussing my outfit for an upcoming event.I'd chosen a brown dress and was going to cinch it with a black belt;,my friend looked horrified and said (in hushed tones) that you never EVER wore black and brown together. I couldn't believe it.....really? I thought all these old fashion rules were long discarded, but they still seem to be lurking in the background of people's minds. Why do we place restrictions on what goes together? As I've gotten older I've accepted my style and also other's people's quirks and admire when people mix things up and do the unexpected. Do you guys have any rules?

Maximising

I've got a rather busy July ahead of me including polishing up a piece for a competition, making a Pocohontas costume (I'll post pics depending on how it comes out!) and my sister's wedding in Jamaica. Phew! To counteract the excitement/mild panic, I chose a flowing maxidress and bare feet. I know maxis have become de rigueur  for summer dressing, but I refuse to give them up- they're so easy and comfy to wear. Anyways, back to work now...Happy Monday guys!

Optical Illusion

I'm continuing my love affair with stripes (I even bought a stripy bikini!) and also experimenting with broaches and adding ruffles/gatherings to blouses. I loved the effect of the gathered area at the middle. Also, my cat kept sneaking into the shots! Again, reality catching up with fashion. Happy Friday!
