Fair Isle

Image 1 of ASOS Reversed Jacquard Knitted Jacket

I've only just emerged from under my duvet! It's so cold in the UK and set to get even colder....:(. If there's one thing about winter that I do like, it's the warm snuggly Fair Isle print- doesn't it just conjure up images of skiing and hot chocolate? I saw this jumper on Asos and suspect it has to be added to the winter arsenal! What can't you guys live without this xmas?

On the reading list.....

I've been making my way through the must- have fashion books (see the fashion spot) to try to expand my knowledge of the business (you don't know where you're going until you know where you've been etc) and these are the newest additions. I've read Delux: how luxury lost it's lustre and thought it was quite explosive in revealing the true ruthlessness of the industry and am now starting The Beautiful Fall. I love books about fashion from which I can gain inspiration. The Sartorialist is next on my list.

Studded...and makeup look of the day!

I totally forgot to post my new additions...the studded belt and cross ring! I LOVE  anything studded and slightly goth; it adds a great spin to a otherwise blah outfit and stops dresses from looking too girly. The bag and the other rings you've seen before, but I was rummaging through Urban Outfitters in Oxford Circus and came across these gems. I also did a bit of a natural look with winged eyeliner for a roast dinner in the pub! What do you guys think?

Beginnings

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpXiG2dkIPk

I was recently asked by a friend about my early inspirations and references, which got me thinking about what got me into fashion in the first place. Since I grew up in Jamaica in the 80's, I had to get my influences from the media. MTV's House of Style hosted by Cindy Crawford back in the early 90's, is what first switched me on. I loved the designers and model profiles and I knew deep down that I wanted a career in that world. On a similar note, whatever happened to Todd Oldham, the original DIY designer on telly? What were your early influences?

Kate's Final Collection

I've got to admit that I was rather excited when I heard that Kate's collection was finally dropping into Topshop. I remember when the first collection came and we all queued for hours to get our hands on the much-hyped collaboration. Anywho, I checked out the new stuff and whilst the things are nice, why the F are they so expensive? I really really resent having to pay four hundred pounds for a piece. Surely I'd spend that money on actual couture, not on something that is highstreet. Are you guys shelling out?
