Hell for Leather

I've rediscovered this leather jacket I bought a few years back in the back of my closet. Isn't it great that some fabrics get better with time and the more you wear them? Of course, had to include my denim shorts in my trans-seasonal dressing. what can I say? old habits die hard!

Sweater Dressed

All hail the mighty sweater dress! I absolutely love them and cannot survive winter without them-rather cute, functional and perfect for transeasonal dressing.....what's not to like? By the way, have my eye on a fab pair of shearling boots....watch this space!

Fresh Coating

I think my mind just rejects autumn/winter coz every year I struggle with my outerwear choices. Is it just me, or is finding the perfect coat akin to finding the perfect jeans ie the holy grail? I'd much rather ignore the snow/rain/subzero temperatures, but living in the UK means I get 2 weeks of summer tops per year! Anywho, I'm looking for a new winter coat, and these are my picks for this year. Some are designer, and hence completely out of my price range, but a girl can dream....

Summer of Love

I bought these boots with my first paycheck, and am still in love with them. At the time, they were the most expensive item in my wardrobe and I've worn them to death! In fact, they need reheeling (yet again), but are such a great part of wardrobe, they'll probably be falling apart when I finally retire them. What're your treasured items?

The Importance of Love

This is a slightly different post today. My Birthday was yesterday, and every year I'm surprised at how many well-wishes I get and how many people take the time out to be thoughtful. I spent the evening with my housemate, making cocktails, eating yummy stir fry and watching dvds (Little Miss Sunshine is always a winner) and I couldn't be happier. The real friendships I've cultivated have kept me grounded and keep me going when things don't go my way, and I'm forever grateful for that. Anywho, I also wanted to say welcome to my new followers and thanks to my old followers for the lovely comments and support. It means so much.

Amazing Grace

I've been reading Kelly Cutrone's tome about life lessons and getting to where you want to be, and she emphasises the need for role models/inspirations in your everyday life, or at least something that reflects a quality in you. Anywho, I thought hard about it, and rewatched the September Issue while pondering, and then was hit- Grace Coddington! Who didn't fall in love with her in that movie? She was the undisputed star due to her empathy, hard work and lack of pretence. Designers and coworkers flocked to her like moths to her flame-like hair and it was easy to see why. I would love to someday work in fashion and hope I can remain as down-to-earth as she is.....oh, and have an eighth of her talent! The woman is a true inspiration.

Warming up

I think I've found my Autumn look! Whilst thumbing through the new issues of my favourite mags, there seemed to be a huge emphasis on socks with everything- heels, brogues, flats etc. Any look from girly to nerdy was covered. I figured since I live in tights etc over the fall/winter/spring period, then I should embrace the tall-sock trend wholeheartedly....at least until it gets too cold and then it's back to tights and Uggs! Until then......

Modern Pocohontas

I've been meaning to shoot this necklace and these booties for ages, but couldn't seem to find the right outfit! Anyways, the embellished necklace was one of those wonderful cheap finds from Primark which has transformed multiple outfits over the past few months. The booties have been a trickier to incorporate, but like my denim cut-offs, they'll become a staple before Fall arrives!

Featherweight

Some clothes are the sartorial equivalent to a big hug. I bought this jumper a few sizes too big on purpose, to get that slouchy, boyfriend fit and always come back to it when  I need a bit of a cuddle (and the Boy's not around). It was a stormy afternoon, so just gazed out the window watching the rain, and needed just something simple against my skin. What are your comfort garments?

City Girl

Half the reason I'm glued to this season of The City is due to this woman- Olivia Palermo. Her personality leaves a lot to be desired, but like Blair Waldorf, her on-screen presence makes us all love to hate her. She has great style and looks impeccable on every episode. Also, this true-life 'social' shows her love for fashion by name-checking Topshop when asked about an accessory-Brilliant!Gotta love her!what do you guys think?

Denim Versatility

I recently read on Garance Dore's blog about the ubiquitous denim shorts. She was saying that they seem to be EVERYWHERE this summer, and I couldn't agree more! All you have to do is scroll back through my recent posts to see that my levi's shorts are pretty much a part of every ensemble. I seem to be surgically attached to them! lol! What about you guys? Do you share my obsession or should I hang the shorts up for good? I also did a bit of experimenting with photography and backgrounds (I'm in the bathroom :)). Let me know what you guys think!
